we aim to provide one last wish of a wedding for couples dealing with a terminal illness, through a combination of supplier donations and subsidised wedding services. the most important thing when planning a wedding is making sure you have plenty of time to save and make arrangements, however, due to the indiscriminate nature of many life limiting illnesses, this luxury is mercilessly removed. due to the insecurity created by receiving such devastating news, you would not want to leave your spouse carrying the debt that a wedding would incur. perhaps you had a wedding planned and booked that you may not live to enjoy? or perhaps the knowledge that your life will end prematurely, has inspired you to show that special person in your life, how much you love them, or you want your children to have the same name as yourself. through building an extensive network of professional volunteers and a database of suppliers and businesses, who are willing to donate or work at cost, we will be able to make wonderful things happen, at short notice and at a reasonable price for the people who deserve it the most. the project also collects used wedding dresses from generous brides and donates them to brides within the 'wish for a wedding' concept. any dresses donated that are not used after 12 months, or are not up to the standard required to be reused, will be turned into burial gowns for babies that are no longer with us. we look forward to sharing the stories and memories from the special days we capture. your donations will mean more couples can benefit from our services and have one last special day to remember. rachael kirkwood mr & mrs kirkwood, paris, dec 2015 "you don't find love, it finds you, it's got a litte bit to do with destiny, fate and what's written in the stars" how it happened.... i was madly in love with a 13 year old boy at high school called patrick, i sent him valentines cards every year, he didn't know i fancied him as we never said a word to each other! 15 years after school we got in contact via facebook and he asked to take me out! 2 weeks later we viewed a house to buy, 3 months later he asked me to marry him and 8 months later we got married in paris! after my wedding i decided to give my dress away, as i wanted someone else to feel lucky and feel like a princess. a few people suggested giving it to a charity that make gowns for babies that are no longer with us. this is close to my heart as i lost a baby through a molar pregnancy. if you do not know what this is i suggest reading about it, i had no idea what is was until the consultant told me they were referring me to a cancer unit in sheffield! after 3 months i was told everything was ok and we could try again for another baby. i managed to get pregnant not long after this and we had our daughter mollie, 6 weeks after having her i find out i'm expecting identical twins!! our family of 4 quickly turned into 7!! i'm currently expecting baby no.5. i decided to research the charity and found out they were no longer accepting dresses. then i thought about donating it to another charity that puts on weddings for couples dealing with a terminal illness and offering my time as i'm a wedding photographer. the more i thought about it the more i wanted to do it all myself. statistics state that 160,000 a year die from cancer alone, that's not including all the other terminal illnesses - it would be a pleasure to give just a handful of those people 1 last day to remember - they are going through the worst time of their lives, it's only fair that they end it with one of the happiest days of their lives. i had the most amazing wedding in paris, all planned in less than 2 months! i'm willing to challenge myself, get the public on board and find suppliers willing to donate their services to people that really deserve it. we've helped lots of couples have one last wish of a wedding - please help us to help more! thanks to everyone that's making this possible. it's nice to help others and it's nice to know that so many people around the country are willing to help. i promise you you'll feel a million times better if you do something nice for someone that deserves it! thanks rachael how you can help.... donate your wedding dress do you have a wedding dress collecting dust in the attic?
